Vico Equense sits on a tuff and limestone block, at an average elevation of 90 meters. It overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the southern Gulf of Naples, at the beginning of the Sorrento coast. It reaches a peak of 1,444 meters with the summit of Mount Sant'Angelo, the highest peak in the entire Lattari mountain range. For a short, mountainous and steep stretch toward the sea, the city also borders the Gulf of Salerno, along the Amalfi coast, near the Li Galli archipelago. With a surface area of nearly 30 square kilometers, Vico Equense is the largest municipality on the Sorrento peninsula, as well as the eighth largest in the entire metropolitan city.
